Scott Elementary School

Royse City ISD

Anita M. Scott was a dedicated educator who taught all of her 34 years at Royse City ISD.  Mrs. Scott’s enthusiasm for teaching touched the lives of many Royse City students.  For this reason, the District wanted a campus that would inspire and encourage learning.

Using the prototype design, architects refined the pod concept, which allows for specialized use of each area as well as an area for team teaching and cooperative learning.  Each pod has direct egress to the outside to facilitate and extend classroom learning.   Use of energy efficient skylights offer the benefits of natural light in instructional and public areas without excessive heat gain to the building occupants.

A public versus instructional zoning concept allows for minimal distractions in classroom areas to ensure the focus on learning.  Display cases are located central traffic corridors to display student work and educational themes.

The interior stud walls are covered with durable finish materials to allow for easy revisions or building expansion in the future.

The school’s interior utilizes bright paint and graphics to create the most pleasing and inspiring environment for students.
